The most versatile Cable Fault Pin Pointer yet, SCOPE’s CFL PP3 is suitable for pin-pointing as well as route tracing of any type of power cable. For pinpointing it is used along-with CFL SG Series Surge Generators from SCOPE and for route tracing it is used along-with Audio Frequency Generator, CFL AG2 from SCOPE. Advanced technology with features like time lapse measurement makes it a tool that can tackle complicated faults easily. 

Ambient noise during pin-pointing has always been a problem. CFL PP3 with simultaneous display of magnetic and acoustic waveforms indicates the exact fault spot eliminating the above problem. It guides the operator about the lay of the cable under test during pin-pointing. The LCD display constantly gives information to the operator about any deviation of the cable route being followed. The instrument offers results based on vision. Thus the ground microphone becomes secondary tool to locate the exact fault spot.

The instrument incorporates separate route tracing circuit to be used with Audio Frequency Generator, CFL AG from SCOPE. The system has flexibility of coupling to the cable galvanically (direct connection) for isolated cable and inductively coupled if the cable is live. The depth of the cable under test is located with conventional triangulation method with precise accuracy. This system configuration can also be used to pin-point low resistance welded faults, where surge generator cannot be used.

Underground cable faults cannot be avoided due to many factors such as road widening, infrastructure improvement, digging carried out for repairs of other underground utilities etc.

These faults generally take long time to detect and hence long time to repair the damaged cables and restore the power supply. Long outages cause heavy production loss to industries, revenue loss to power distribution companies and inconvenience to general public. This calls for quick fault location and restoration of power supply in minimum possible time.

An ordinary fault locating kit comprising of diagnosis set and pin-pointing equipment can take long time to locate fault point. SCOPE offers pre-locator instruments that can give the fault distance to help the operator for reaching the spot quickly and pin-pointing the fault in a short time.

CFL PL4 Power Cable Fault Locator is a portable, easy to use cable fault pre-location instrument. It uses the Time Domain Reflection (TDR), Secondary Impulse Method / Multiple Impulse method (MIM) and Impulse Current Method (ICM) on low, medium and high voltage cables. Its measuring ranges enable pre-location on cable lengths from 500 m to 64km.

CFL PL4 is operated through function keys and touch screen, it is fully menu guided. This instrument is supplied with rechargeable lithiumion batteries.

SCOPE proudly introduces Step-Up Transformer - MagD, specially designed to cater the needs of testing of instrument Transformers. Before new systems are put into service or after any occurrence of fault, the instrument transformers need to be tested for their outputs. It is to be ensured that these instrument transformers are giving proper outputs to the protective relays.
